God Is Closer Than You Think

John 14:17

that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

Reflection

One of the most incredible shifts that takes place in the New Testament is the change from God dwelling among His people to God dwelling within His people. In the Old Testament, the presence of God was associated with the tabernacle and later the temple. It was something people came to. But Jesus tells His disciples that the Spirit will not only be with them—He will be in them. That changes everything. God is not distant. He is not confined to a place. He is not someone you visit once a week. He is present within you. That means wherever you go, He is there. In your home, in your workplace, in your struggles, in your quiet moments—He is present. And yet, many believers live as though God is far away. They talk about Him as if He is distant, as if He only shows up in certain moments or certain places. But the truth is, He is closer than you think. So today, be aware of His presence. Talk to Him. Walk with Him. Recognize that He is not just watching your life—He is actively involved in it. And as you begin to live with that awareness, it will change how you think, how you act, and how you respond to what life brings your way.

Prayer

Lord, help me to live with an awareness of Your presence in my life. Remind me that You are near and that You are working in me and through me each day. Amen.
