Help Has Been Given

John 14:16

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another [b]Helper, that He may be with you forever;

Reflection

One of the most powerful truths in this passage is that Jesus does not simply acknowledge our need—He provides the answer. He says that the Father will give “another Helper.” That word “another” is important. It means another of the same kind. Jesus was not sending something lesser. He was sending One who would continue His work in the lives of His people. The disciples had relied on Jesus for everything. He taught them, guided them, corrected them, and comforted them. And now, as He prepares to go to the cross, He assures them that they are not losing that help—they are gaining something even greater. The Holy Spirit would not be limited by location. He would be present with every believer at all times. And that truth applies to you today. You are not trying to live the Christian life without help. You are not expected to navigate your struggles in your own strength. The Spirit of God has been given to you to guide you, strengthen you, and lead you. So stop living as though you are on your own. Stop trying to carry what you were never meant to carry. Lean into the help that has already been provided. The Spirit is not distant. He is present. And He is ready to lead you in every step you take.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit as my Helper. Help me to depend on Him daily and to trust His leading in every area of my life. Amen.
