Why You Still Struggle
Galatians 5:16
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Reflection
There is a question many believers wrestle with: if I have the Holy Spirit, why do I still struggle? Why do I continue to battle the same sins, the same habits, the same weaknesses? The answer is not that the power is missing—it is that the dependence is lacking. The Christian life is not about possessing the Spirit; it is about walking in the Spirit. Scripture tells us to walk by the Spirit so that we will not carry out the desires of the flesh. That means there is an active, daily dependence required. It is not a one-time decision—it is a continual surrender. Think about it this way. You can have access to power, but if you are not connected properly, it does not flow. Just like that plucker with the long extension cord lost its strength because it was too far from the source, many believers are living disconnected lives. They are saved, but they are not surrendered. They are indwelt, but they are not yielded. So the struggle continues—not because God has failed to provide, but because we have not learned to depend. Today, examine your life. Are you trying to overcome sin in your own strength? Are you relying on your willpower instead of His power? The answer is not to try harder—it is to surrender deeper. Walk with Him. Stay close to Him. Depend on Him moment by moment.
Prayer
Lord, show me where I have been trying to live this life in my own strength. Help me to walk in the Spirit daily and depend on You in every area of my life. Amen.
