When You Feel Powerless
John 14:17
that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
Reflection
There are seasons in life when you feel completely powerless. Situations arise that you cannot control. Circumstances press in that you cannot change. And in those moments, it is easy to feel like you are stuck—like there is nothing you can do and nowhere you can turn. That feeling is not new. It is part of the human experience. But what Jesus tells us here changes how we understand it. He says that the Spirit of truth “abides with you and will be in you.” That means your situation may not change immediately, but your position is not powerless. You have the Spirit of God within you. The world cannot receive Him because it does not know Him. But you do. And that means you are not left without strength. You are not left without guidance. You are not left without truth. Even when everything around you feels uncertain, there is a certainty within you—the presence of God Himself. So when you feel powerless, do not believe the lie that you are helpless. You may not control your circumstances, but you are not without power. The Spirit of God is working in you, strengthening you, and guiding you through what you face. Turn to Him. Depend on Him. Trust that He is at work, even when you cannot see it.
Prayer
Father, when I feel powerless, remind me of the power that lives within me through Your Spirit. Help me to trust You in every situation and to rely on Your strength. Amen.
