The Spirit Points To Jesus

Acts 2:11

11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God.”

Reflection

One of the clearest truths in the Pentecost story is this: the Holy Spirit always magnifies Jesus Christ. The people gathered in Jerusalem heard the disciples “speaking of the mighty deeds of God.” The Spirit did not come to draw attention to the disciples themselves. He came to empower them to proclaim Christ. That is still the Spirit’s work today. Sometimes people misunderstand the role of the Holy Spirit and reduce Him to emotional experiences or dramatic displays. But the Spirit’s purpose is always connected to Jesus. He empowers believers to proclaim the Gospel, point people to Christ, and exalt the Savior. And that means being filled with the Spirit is not primarily about chasing feelings. It is about becoming more effective in glorifying Jesus with your life. A Spirit-filled believer talks about Jesus. Lives for Jesus. Loves like Jesus. Points others to Jesus. The greatest evidence of the Spirit’s work is not merely emotional excitement—it is a life that increasingly reflects Christ and boldly proclaims Him to others. So today, ask yourself honestly: does my life magnify Jesus? Do my conversations point people toward Him? Does the Spirit have freedom to work through me for His glory? Because the Holy Spirit never draws attention away from Christ. He always leads people toward Him.

Prayer

Father, let my life magnify Jesus Christ. Fill me with Your Spirit so that my words, actions, and attitudes point others to the Savior. Amen.
